What will affect the cost of my system?
So, what are the main things that will affect the cost of installing a heat pump in your home? We thought we would break it down for you below.
The Size Of Your Home
The size of your property will directly impact the cost of your system, The larger your home the more expensive the system will be, generally because you will need a bigger heat pump to keep your home warm.

How Well Insulated Is Your Home
Heat pumps work really effectively in a well insulated property but they can also work really well even if your house isn`t super insulated. This does however mean that the heat pump would need to be bigger and more consideration will be made when designing your system. If there are any simple ways to improve the insulation levels in your home we would always recommend tackling these as part of the works. This may also be required to qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
Do I Need To Change My Radiators?
When designing a retrofit Air Source heat pumps installation this can have a large impact on the over all cost. Air source heat pumps work most efficiently when running at lower design temperatures. We aim for a design temperature of 45 degrees flow temperature compared to 65 degrees for a traditional Gas boiler. In order to achieve the same room temperature with a lower flow temperature we need larger radiators. As part of our design we would come to your property and measure every room taking into account the size of your external walls, windows, doors and the existing radiators. By performing a through heat loss calculation we can work out if your existing radiators will do the job or if they ill need to be replaced.
So What Is The Conclusion?
In conclusion, the cost of an air source heat pump can vary depending on a number of factors, including the size of your home, your location, and the type of system you choose. On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from £10,000 to £15,000 for a complete installation. However, the long-term savings on your energy bills and the potential for incentives and added value can make it a worthwhile investment.
